Computer Ports & Adapters

In this room, you can connect your computer to both HDMI and VGA ports. Make sure you have the right adapter(s) before coming to class. Please note that the adapters in this table are just examples. Adapters vary by brand, color, shape, etc.

HDMI Computers without a built-in HDMI port will require an adapter. You can reserve one by calling (415)405-5555 or emailing at@sfsu.edu. Please include the model number of your computer so you can be matched with the appropriate adapter.

TURNING ON THE SYSTEM

STEP 1: Use the attached remote-control, point at the bottom-right of the TV, then press the power button. 

CONNECTING A LAPTOP: VGA OR HDMI

STEP 1: On the remote-control, press SOURCE. The source row will appear on the top of the screen.
Use the arrow buttons to select the appropriate source when using:

HDMI 1 socket: HDMI 1
HDMI 2 socket: HDMI 2

STEP 2: Connect HDMI (small trapezoid) or VGA* (15-pin)  cable to laptop (respective laptops may require adapters).
(When using VGA, plug the attached audio-cord into laptop's headphone jack for sound)

*To use VGA, plug the HDMI cable into the attached HDMI-to-VGA converter. The red USB plug must be inserted into an USB port on the laptop to power the converter. 

STEP 3: For audio volume, use the remote-control's volume buttons to toggle up or down. 

Mirroring your display

Mac: COMMAND  + F1 (COMMAND + dim brightness on macs with a touchbar)
Windows: WINDOWS SYMBOL + P, then select DUPLICATE

RECEIVING CABLECAST

STEP 1: On the remote-control, press SOURCE. The source row will appear on the top of the screen.
Use the arrow buttons to select the source labeled TV.

STEP 2: Select the desired cable channel by using the remote as you would a TV at home.  

STEP 3: For audio volume, use the remote-control's volume buttons to toggle up or down.

STEP 4: Call x15103 to start the cablecast.
