Computer Ports & Adapters

In this room, you can connect your computer to HDMI ports. Make sure you have the right adapter(s) before coming to class. Please note that the adapters in this table are just examples. Adapters vary by brand, color, shape, etc.

HDMI Computers without a built-in HDMI port will require an adapter. You can reserve one by calling (415)405-5555 or emailing at@sfsu.edu. Please include the model number of your computer so you can be matched with the appropriate adapter.

TURNING ON THE SYSTEM

STEP 1: Press the ON button at the top left corner of the Pixie Pro panel

STEP 2: Panel will light up; the ceiling projector or wall-mounted TV will be on after 30-seconds. Fully wait for projector or TV to warm up before proceeding. 

CONNECTING A LAPTOP: HDMI

STEP 1: At the middle of the Pixie Pro panel, press the source button labled HDMI.

STEP 2: Connect the HDMI cable on the side of the cabinet to the laptop (respective laptops may require adapters).

STEP 3: For audio volume, toggle the knob labeled MAIN on the left audio control panel.
The light next to the knob must be GREEN. If RED, press the button underneath. 

Mirroring your display

Mac: COMMAND  + F1 (COMMAND + dim brightness on macs with a touchbar)
Windows: WINDOWS SYMBOL + P, then select DUPLICATE

RECEIVING CABLECAST

STEP 1: At the middle of the Pixie Pro panel, press the source button labeled CAMPUS TV or TUNER.

STEP 2: Select the desired cable channel using the channel UP/DOWN buttons on the bottom left of the Pixie Pro panel.
Verify the channel at the top of the projected image.  

STEP 3: For audio volume, toggle the knob labeled MAIN on the left audio control panel.
The light next to the knob must be GREEN. If RED, press the button underneath. 

STEP 4: Call x15103 to start the cablecast. 

USING THE BLU-RAY/DVD PLAYER

STEP 1: At the middle of the Pixie Pro panel, press the source button labeled BLU-RAY.

STEP 2: Turn on Blu-ray player. Insert media (Blu-ray or DVD discs) and press play. 

STEP 3: For audio volume, toggle the knob labeled MAIN on the left audio control panel.
The light next to the knob must be GREEN. If RED, press the button underneath. 

EXTRA STEP: To toggle within a Blu-ray/DVD disc menu, use the arrow keys on the right of the Pixie Pro panel: 

USING THE VCR PLAYER

STEP 1: At the middle of the Pixie Pro panel, press the source button labeled VCR.

STEP 2: Turn on VHS tape player. Insert media and press play. 

STEP 3: For audio volume, toggle the knob labeled MAIN on the left audio control panel.
The light next to the knob must be GREEN. If RED, press the button underneath. 

USING THE DOCUMENT CAMERA

STEP 1: At the middle of the Pixie Pro panel, press the source button labeled DOCUMENT CAMERA.

STEP 2: Document camera is located on a sliding tray on the side of the cabinet.
Slide out the tray, swing open the camera arm, and press the power button. 

STEP 3: Place desired item on the wooden surface to project onto the screen.
