Computer Ports & Adapters

In this room you can connect your computer via HDMI. A usb-c to HDMI adapter is provided in the room. Older computers without USB-C and without HDMI built-in can check out an adapter from Academic Technology in LIB 80.

TURNING ON THE SYSTEM

STEP 1: Turn on the main power-switch.

STEP 2: On the projector control panel inside the middle drawer, press ON once, and wait 30 seconds.

CONNECTING A LAPTOP: VGA OR HDMI

*All consoles come equipped with VGA, but some have HDMI as well. Please refer to the classroom database chart for what's installed in specific classrooms.

STEP 1: On the projector control panel inside the middle drawer, press COMP to select the appropriate input (respective classrooms may use different inputs):

VGA cable: COMPUTER, LAPTOP, or VGA
HDMI cable: HDMI

STEP 2: Connect VGA (15-pin) or HDMI (small trapezoid) cable to laptop (respective laptops may require adapters).
(When using VGA, plug the attached audio-cord into laptop's headphone jack for sound)

*Computer cables will either be to the side of the wooden box or inside the middle drawer. 

STEP 3: At the AV1 Input Selector, press in the appropriate button when using:

VGA cable: COMPUTER AUDIO or VGA AUDIO
HDMI cable: HDMI AUDIO

STEP 4: To get audio, turn on the amplifier (PA Power Switch). Adjust volume using the Master Volume Control knob.

Mirroring your display

Mac: COMMAND  + F1 (COMMAND + dim brightness on macs with a touchbar)
Windows: WINDOWS SYMBOL + P, then select DUPLICATE

USING THE VCR/DVD PLAYER

STEP 1: On the projector control panel inside the middle drawer, press VIDEO. (on the projected image, input should indicate VIDEO).

STEP 2: At the AV1 Input Selector, press in button labeled VCR/DVD. 

STEP 3: Turn on the amplifier (PA Power Switch). Adjust volume using the Master Volume Control knob.

STEP 4: Turn on VCR/DVD combo player. Insert media and press play.

USING THE DOCUMENT CAMERA

STEP 1: On the projector control panel inside the middle drawer, press VIDEO. (on the projected image, input should indicate VIDEO).

STEP 2: At the AV1 Input Selector, press in button labeled VIDEO OVERHEAD. 

STEP 3: Document camera is located on a sliding tray on the side of the wooden box. Slide out the tray, erect the arms, and press the power button. 

STEP 4: Place desired item on the surface of the document camera to project onto the screen.
